Worthless Locations
What Are Worthless Locations in Japan?
Just as the information applies about dying regions, it can be considered that some areas are already dead. These are smaller towns where all services have been withdrawn such as local shops and even access to public transport. Many houses in these smaller villages remain empty and of the few people who remain most are aging citizens who cannot afford to go anywhere else. Across the country you will find these worthless locations where houses are so cheap that in some cases they are even being given away for free in order to avoid the ongoing rates burden. Buying a worthless old house in these regions means nothing but ongoing repair and maintenance bills, little to no access to food or public transport and a never ending amount of rates bills and charges for a house that is completely worthless anyway. They have no resale value at all and in many cases they cannot even be given away for free as nobody wants them. This is the case where many individuals received the house in a will from a deceased relative and will offer them for free or a miniscule price just so they can offload the rates and charges burdens to someone else. It is very difficult for even a good representative to be able to identify these properties without going and investigating the area itself in person and even if they were prepared to do this the costs would exceed the purchase price of the house significantly.
